Welfare Plan Benefit Improvement - Routine Vision / Maternity Benefit

  

The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the following enhancements to your medical benefits effective January 1, 2023:


  • Routine Vision: Limited to $400 maximum payment per member per calendar year. Previously this benefit was limited to $325.


  • Maternity Benefit: A Maternity Benefit is now available to any Active Employee, Owner Member, or Non-Bargaining Unit Employee who is pregnant and leaves employment in connection with the birth of a child. The weekly disability benefit amount shown in the Benefit Schedule is payable for six (6) weeks for a traditional delivery and eight (8) weeks for a Cesarian section delivery for any such eligible employee who does not work during that period of time. The benefit shall begin two weeks before the expected delivery date unless the participant’s physician certifies that the participant is unable to work because of pregnancy before that date.

Welfare Plan Benefit Improvement - Occupational and Speech Therapy

The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the following enhancements to your medical benefits effective July 1, 2022:


  • Speech Therapy will now be covered at 80% of the allowed amount, subject to the calendar year deductible. 
  • Occupational Therapy: Removal of the limit of certain services related to hand and lymphedema.


Occupational, physical and speech therapy limited to combined maximum of 30 visits per member per calendar year.

Pension Fund Amendment 9 - Summary Material Modification

We are pleased to announce that the Board of Trustees of the AFL-AGC Building Trades Pension Plan have approved the following benefit improvement. Participants who have worked at least 250 hours in the 2020 plan year (July 1st, 2019 - June 30th, 2020) or 250 hours in the 2021 plan year (July 1st, 2020 - June 30th, 2021), and have not entered retirement as of July 1st, 2021, are entitled to an increased monthly benefit accrual percentage from 1.8% to 2.0% for contributions received from July 1st, 2009 through June 30th, 2021. Please read through the summary material modification for Amendment 9 of the AFL-AGC Building Trades Pension Plan for more detail, or contact the plan office with any questions.

Electronic Communication

Beginning in 2022 both the AFL-AGC Building Trades Welfare Plan and the AFL-AGC Building Trades Pension Plan will be implementing an email distribution system. Enrolling in electronic communication will allow both benefit plans to distribute important information regarding your benefits faster and more efficiently than regular U.S. Mail. If you would like to elect to receive select future communications through electronic format, then please fill out the Electronic Communication Consent & Authorization form and return it to the plan office. If you choose not to enroll in electronic communications, you will still receive all notices by regular U.S. Mail.
